David Goggins once said that he believes when he dies he will meet God. God in turn will then introduce David Goggins to… David Goggins. However, it will be someone that is vastly better in every way to the real Goggins. This version, God says, is who I made you to be. If you did everything that I created you for, this is you.

I don’t know how theologically accurate this idea is, but it is an excellent mental exercise to think through who you think you should be.

Far too often I think that we think through morality or sin, only as a list of things that we can or cannot do. How much more valuable would it be to think through morality as whatever takes away from me becoming the person I was created to be.
